Section I Technical Review - Identity & Credit Fraud – Insurance Issues and SolutionsCyber Criminals. The good, bad and ugly reality of how fraudulent claims find their way into your client’s personal and commercial business. This course explores the issues of identity and credit fraud and its impact on the consumer. Discussion will include the elements of identity and credit fraud, the potential for loss, ways in which individuals and businesses may protect this asset through possible insurance & non-insurance coverage and risk management techniques. Participants will understand and be able to provide guidance to clients and assist them in handling identity and credit fraud issues.Section II- Professional Development - Consumer Protective EthicsEthical Behaviors and Consumer Protections. Every day we hear about companies that have been involved in unethical behaviors that lead to lawsuits and public scandals! What are the issues and what can we do about it? Discussion will include an overview of the Legal Aspects of Agency Law, privacy acts and laws that affect the insurance industry. Attendees will discuss memorable legal cases that impact industry and will discuss some of the issues and concerns insurance professionals must consider in dealing with the consumer and the exposures that may create Errors and Omissions Claims.
Section II- Technical Development – Certificates of Insurance, The Good, Bad & UglyThis course examines the primary tools used by organizations to transfer liability to others through contracts and additional insured endorsements and the issuance of a Certificate of Liability. Attendees will discuss the insurance certificate, focusing on some of the problems encountered when parties rely on information provided through the certificate of insurance. We will also discuss example claims relating to the issuance of a certificate of liability.
